A Dragon's Guide Newsletter: Issue III

Happy New Year to everyone. This is a very special year because it's the Year of the Dragon in Chinese astrology. More relevant to my novels, it's the year of the Water Dragon. From a Feng Shui viewpoint, this year is full of possibilities for good fortune.

The Chinese element theory describes water as producing wood. Wood represents growth and is the natural element of the dragon. Since the water dragon is associated with the volatile elements of thunder and lightning, it represents pure creativity.

Enjoy the year of the dragon, and, if you want to get to know water dragons better, read Big Dragons Don't Cry.

New and Forthcoming Releases

In late January I published Gone to Flowers, a novel of a commune during the Vietnam era.

This book is available on at Amazon, as I have signed on to an Amazon program that allows me to offer the book for free for a maximum of 5 days during a three-month period. The next free days will be March 15-16. Take this opportunity to get the book free. If you enjoy it, I hope you will review it.

Read more about the book at Amazon.

You can also read the first chapter at http://www.adragonsguide.com/books/ch1eli.shtml

The title comes from the popular song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?". If you're not familiar with the origins and history of this song, read more here.

In December I published Cats in Command, a collection of short stories. You can read more about this book here. I will only say the title story depicts a world in which cats are in charge. Sounds like how I live.

Cats in Command is free at Smashwords. It's also free at Barnes & Noble, Apple, Kobo, and Sony.

I will also be publishing the as-yet-untitled third volume of A Dragon's Guide to Destiny.

Animals Have Feelings, Too: Bach Flower Remedies for Cats and Dogs has amazed me with its popularity and global sales. I am planning at least one more nonfiction release this year.

Dragonfire: The Creative Spark

This is my blog, where (holidays excepted), I post at least once a week. My theme is creativity. Often I interview other authors about their own creative processes.

The blog is here. If you enjoy it, consider becoming a member.

Thoughts for the New Year

I didn't exactly make resolutions this year, although I have a multitude of goals. However, I received something wonderful in my email recently, called 7 lovely logics. Here they are.

1. Make peace with your past so it doesn't spoil your present.
2. What others think of you is none of your business.
3. Time heals almost everything, give the time, some time.
4. No one is the reason of your happiness except YOU yourself.
5. Don't compare your life with others; you have no idea what their journey is all about.
6. Stop thinking too much; it's all right not to know all the answers.
7. Smile, you don't own all the problems in the world.
